the province of Ragusa, the far end of Sicily separating the island
from the African continent, hosts a modem tourist circuit which,
at the same time, respects nature and protects age-long traditions.
Thanks to the co-ordination by CO.PA.I., today several companies
can offer a wide range of services and unique products. Typical
farm holidays activities are associated with sports and culturat
entertainment. In fact, here, you can attend a flying school or
you can parachute, go riding in the woods or visit ethnographic
museums, the historical memory of a peasant society which has never
fully disappeared. All this among towns which were mostly rebuilt
300 years ago after a terrible earthquake, natural oases and uncontaminated
Saharan sand beaches.

INTERVENTIONS
"Despite access to EC funding, working on one's own is never
enough. It is, rather, necessary to create a "network"
of tasks aimed at achieving that level of coordination which should
animate all the action to be taken within the territory. For too
long we have been accustomed to actions void of coordination and,
in some ways, without criteria. The time has come to end these approximate
methods. When one speaks of work to be done on the economic, natural,
landscape and cultural patrimony the idea of isolated, unconnected,
criteria-free programmes must no longer be taken into consideration".
