Is
set on a hill surrounded by mountains which helter it from the winds,
even though partly obstructing the panorama.
It
is the highest and farthest northern town of the province; its territory
is prevalently mountainous, poor and dry with the exception of few
areas. The town follows the profile of the hill on which it is set.
It is so divided in upper and lower Monterosso Almo.
 Works
of re-afforestation have started on the surrounding Calaforno country-road,
leading to Ragusa, in order to provide for both ground and landscape
"dryness".
